The Center membership is comprised of its Executive Committee and over 160 Center investigators from 33 different Departments (and 10 divisions within the Department of Medicine) and nine schools within the University. These investigators have secondary faculty appointments within the Center as they might in any other academic department.

Investigators from the UAB-affiliated Southern Research Institute (SRI), which has a long history of research into anti-viral drug development, are also appointed as CFAR members. The Center investigators participate in the Center's interdisciplinary research activities through Interdisciplinary Research Programs and workgroups.

Investigators are nominated for membership in the center by another member or up receipt of grant funding through our developmental core funding initiatives. A credentials committee establishes the appropriateness of investigators for membership. The executive committee oversees the membership process.
