The CFAR Core facilities support and promote multidisciplinary HIV/AIDS research efforts that would generally not be possible within the confines of individual laboratories.

 

Each Core is continuously monitored for utilization, relevance of service provided to the scientific needs of the investigators, functionality, and coordination of effort with other Cores on campus serving other Centers.

The UAB CFAR has played a critical role in stimulating interdisciplinary, translational research that bridges the basic, clinical, and behavioral sciences through targeted interdisciplinary research groups.

 

The IRGs are charged with developing specific, achievable objectives based on synergies identified between bench scientists and clinicians for the study of HIV/AIDS.
